More Katrina aftermath

I have heard from people I have not seen/heard from in years; all want to know about the hurricane. I have not had an office to go to; lack of power is thankfully it's only problem. We are seeing people in the hospital wwho probably only need air conditioning to be better. I have my mother staying with me, and it is like dealing with my teenage daughter.
I will be going to the Alabama football games and that will help distract me from the hurricane aftermath. I will get to see the above mentioned daughter and her sister in Tuscaloosa. I am also a Saints fan. I wonder if I have seen their last game ever.

This is my condo after the hurricane. We have had quite a time down here. We had it easy compared to New Orleans and Miss.

We had an uneventful night, with a lot of rain and minimal wind. The eye is getting close to us now. Power, cable, and satellite all are out. I have a generator and it is running the house. Very expensive, but worth every penny. The dogs and cat are very anxious.

Jenny

My daughter is at the Univ. of Ala. In fact I have 2 there. The youngest is troubled, she has already missed some of her classes and doesn't like her roomate. I am hoping she can get her act together and do well. She needs to buckle down, quit feeling sorry for herslf, quit blaming all her toubles on other people and take control of her own life. I just don't know how to get that message through to her. It is a pity, because she is very bright and pretty girl.

Katrina

This is our next uninvited guest. We will spend most of the day tomorrow battening down the hatches in anticipation of her visit. We already have the generator, we will board up the beach house, we will put all the lawn furniture and plants up, and then see what happens.

Sam Jones

We are having our first racialy charged election. A lot of people are saying that is why we are in Katrina's sights.

New Orleans

I went to New Orleans for the weekend. Drank to much. The Saints looked awful. K-Paul's was great as usual. I went to the old storyville district and listened to Jazz at Snug Harbour. I went to Dirty linen Night on Royal street. It was an event filled weekend.

Funerals

I hate funerals. My best friend from medical school was murdered 10 years ago, then his son was killed in a car wreck last year, and now his father died suddenly two days ago. My friends' wife and daughter came into town to go to the event and stayed with us. We had to talk about the old days and tell good things about dead people. Tough day.

weather

For the year to date, Mobile has recorded 54.46 inches of rain. This is through July 31st. We haave had 1/2 inch each of the past 2 days. It is wet and humid, with lots of mosquitos.

The Natalie Holloway case is still big news down here. I am tired of Greta. I think she is way to abrasive. I really want Geraldo to find the girl in Venezuela. I think she is swimming with Jimmy Hoffa.
